Tall moveable walls benefit from i-Track’s ease of movement
Hotels, conference centres, exhibition halls and educational establishments that use moveable walls to sub-divide very large, high-ceilinged rooms should look at Dorma Huppe’s innovative i-Track system to make their operation simpler and safer for the operator.
That’s the advice of Michael Porter, UK sales director for leading moveable wall specialist, Style, who explains that tall, heavy moveable wall panels are very simple to manoeuvre thanks to i-Track.
Unique to Dorma Huppe’s moveable walls, the i-Track system’s modular design uses a sequence of curves and internal track switches to allow the smooth and easy movement of large, heavy panels.
By harnessing the kinetic energy created by each panel’s movement, i-Track utilises that momentum to effortlessly facilitate a change in direction as each panel passes through the curves, into and out of the parking pocket.
Track diverters are also used to manually program the carriers to automatically move each panel to the correct parking location.
“i-Track is a really important addition to any operable wall system where panel heights exceed 5000mm, as this can be when weight becomes an issue with a right-angled track,” said Michael.
“The use of curves not only improves overall functionality but ensures no point of collision, reducing wear and tear on the track and carriers. This significantly extends the operational life of the moveable wall system, contributing to long-term sustainability and ultimately reducing maintenance costs.”
The most recent installation of the i-Track system is at the new OWO Hotel in London, where Style installed a 6.5 metre high Dorma Huppe Variflex moveable wall in the main ballroom.
“In the past, a wall of this height would be quite tricky to manoeuvre,” continued Michael, “which is why the i-Track was such a game changer when it was launched a few years ago.
“Now it is easier and safer for the operator to quickly reconfigure large multi-functional rooms, which is extremely important in venues where the space often needs changing quickly to adapt to different events every day.”
