Have you visited Style’s London showroom?

It’s almost a year since Style launched its London showroom, and since then it has been a huge success with architects, specifiers, contractors and end-user clients.

Located near the Barbican, anyone based in London or visiting the capital, can request a visit to the showroom and discuss projects with one of Style’s specialist team in person.

As well as seeing Style’s impressive range of moveable wall solutions in operation, visitors experience their acoustic integrity, look at a range of finishes and designs, and familiarise themselves with their stacking options and technical specifications.

“If you haven’t been to our showroom yet, it’s well worth a visit,” said Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director.

“In one room we have a Skyfold moveable wall showing how easy and effective it can be to sub-divide space. This fully automatic, vertically rising, acoustic moveable wall is housed discreetly in the ceiling cavity and glides silently and seamlessly into place at the push of a button. In fact many people have ordered or specified Skyfold immediately after their visit – it really is that impressive.

“Also on show are moveable partitioning wall solutions from DORMA and SWG. These combine to give Style customers a superb portfolio of operable wall solutions for all requirements and budgets. Furthermore, visitors can review the very latest in wall coverings, lighting design, acoustics and a whole host of other innovations too.”

If you work in the construction and refurbishment sector, and are looking for ideas or wish to see Style’s moveable partitioning walls ‘in the flesh’, please contact us to request a visit.

Please visit the Contact Us page of our web site for more information.

Alternatively, if you are unable to visit the showroom in London, please contact your nearest regional Style office who would be delighted to talk to you about the latest innovations in room fit out.

Style appointed as moveable wall partner to Sunesis

Style, the UK’s leading moveable partitioning wall specialist, has been appointed as a key partner to Sunesis, the market leaders in pre-designed buildings across a range of market sectors.

Sunesis is a joint venture between Scape Group and Willmott Dixon offering buildings delivered through an OJEU compliant framework to a tried and tested efficient process. Clients are able to choose a building model that best meets their needs, then personalise it according to their preferences and requirements.

Flexible space is an important part of that personalisation process, and Sunesis customers benefit from the very best partitioning solution thanks to the partnership with Style, which is providing a DORMA Variflex moveable wall with a superb 55dB Rw acoustic rating.

Tim Carey, product director at Sunesis, said, “Sunesis is a highly innovative and modern approach to building specification, offering a fixed cost, defined construction timescale and the benefit of a full Level 2 BIM model.

“Working with other forward-thinking, market leading businesses adds significant value to the overall Sunesis proposition and it is therefore essential that our supplier partners are able to guarantee quality, cost and delivery when their products are chosen by our clients.

“Style is a company we have known and respected for several years, and with whom we have always had a strong working relationship. We are therefore delighted to welcome them as key partners to our Keynes2 range of primary schools – a market that Style knows extremely well.”

Mike Fine, Style’s director for the midlands, added, “Being involved in ground-breaking concepts in the construction sector is a real privilege and we are delighted that our ongoing investment in our people, processes, products and overall quality standards has resulted in us become a trusted partner to Willmott Dixon and Scape on such an exciting venture.

“DORMA Variflex is a superb product, and a key advantage for schools is that the panels are manufactured separately to the frame, making them easy to change if one is damaged or scuffed.

“It’s also a hugely popular partitioning wall system that is simple to manoeuvre, enabling a room to be divided in two, or opened up completely, offering real flexibility in the way the space is used.”

Style’s apprentice scheme goes from strength to strength

Style is hailing the success of its growing apprentice scheme after an increasing number of school leavers are progressing through the business.

As the UK’s leading moveable partitioning wall specialist, the company is proud of its youth development policy which is seeing an increasing number of young apprentices learn, develop and grow, becoming important members of the team.

“We’re finding some incredibly talented, hard-working and enthusiastic young people emerging from schools and colleges, eager to learn,” said Andy Gibson, Style’s director for the north.

“As well as being delighted to offer them their first step on a career ladder, they bring a huge amount of value to our business, which relies on the quality of its people.”

Adam Wood, a construction contract NVQ level 3 apprentice at Style’s northern office, said, “There’s a growing number of us at Style who are all progressing through their apprentice scheme, and I feel really fortunate that they gave me this opportunity to learn new skills and be part of an award winning business.

“The company’s directors and management team have invested in my future and when we meet architects, contractors and local authorities we get a great reception because everyone believes in the importance of young people like me being given these opportunities to join, and learn from, market leading businesses like Style.”

Style wins Gold for the seventh time

Style, the UK’s leading moveable partitioning wall specialist, has won the FIS Gold contractors award for the 7th time.

Previously called the AIS Contractors Awards, the coveted honors are presented annually to companies that demonstrate the highest levels of craftsmanship, with on-site visits by the judging panel to see for themselves the quality of each company’s work.

The accolade was awarded after judges had visited Style’s installation of 3 of the very latest Skyfold STC60 moveable walls at Henderson TIAA, a project with Pringle Brandon Perkins & Will.

With a 59dB rating, the new Skyfold offers a level of soundproofing which is unrivalled by any other moveable wall solution of its type. Operated by the push of a button, the wall glides effortlessly and quickly into place and, because it is housed in the ceiling cavity, it maximises floor space and is completely hidden when not in use.

The Gold award was presented to Martin Lester, Style South's sales office manager, who joined group managing director, Julian Sargent, at the FIS President's Lunch on 9 June at The Dorchester Hotel, London.

“We are thrilled to win another gold award, and I'm delighted that Martin, an important and longstanding member of our team, went up to receive it,” said Julian Sargent. “He represents all the great people we have at Style who deserve to be recognised for their incredible work.

"This is our seventh gold in total and our 12th gold or silver award overall, and reflects the incredibly talented team we have at Style, and the continued inward investment we place in the very best people, products and processes.”

With 5 offices across the UK, Style is accredited by ISOQAR to a UKAS standard for ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health & Safety Management System.

Moveable walls cater for challenging room shapes and sizes

Architects, specifiers, contractors and interior designers working with challenging room designs are being encouraged to talk to Style about their projects.

According to Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands, flexible space can be created through the installation of a moveable partitioning wall even when the room configuration is difficult.

“If a room is unconventional in its shape, ceiling height, age or even if its furnishings appear to restrict the ability to include an operable wall, it is always worth talking to us because there will be a solution,” said Mike.

“We have some great examples where our highly skilled team have developed ingenious systems to some very challenging problems, including curved moveable walls, ones that cater for stepped amphitheatres, walls that have a thin path of travel and can be opened or closed within the tightest of gaps, very high ceilings, ones where the stacking area needs to be housed away from the room the wall is used in, and we have an example of a wall that provided an interface with a sloping Mansard roof.

“The advice is therefor quite clear. Talk to us and tap into our advice, because as exclusive UK partners to DORMA, Skyfold and SWG, we have access to an extensive range of moveable wall solutions.

“We also have the very best technicians and designers who have a track record of developing imaginative bespoke partitioning walls for clients in circumstances when it had been doubted whether a solution was possible.”

Style recently announced that it had become the first UK supplier of moveable walls to be able to offer comprehensive BIM files for key elements of their range of partitioning wall systems, adding even further advancements to its design capabilities. Delivering more than just downloadable 3D objects in different graphical formats, the DORMA Hüppe BIM tool provides Style’s customers with up-to-date, reliable and precise product data for the planning, construction and management of buildings.

For examples of Style’s bespoke systems please view our case studies pages on our web site where there are some great examples across many market sectors.

Style First with BIM for Moveable Walls

Style has become the first UK supplier of moveable walls to be able to offer comprehensive BIM files for key elements of their range of partitioning wall systems.

Delivering more than just downloadable 3D objects in different graphical formats, the DORMA Hüppe BIM tool provides Style’s customers with up-to-date, reliable and precise product data for the planning, construction and management of buildings.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) describes the smart, computerised, three-dimensional planning of buildings. The features provided by this virtual technology are realistic enough to create a precise 3D image of the building later to be constructed.

Already in the USA, BIM-based planning has become standard practice among architects and construction engineers. In 2016, it will become a mandatory requirement in the UK for all publicly financed construction projects. BIM has been given high priority in France, as it has in Germany with the Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) in particular encouraging the widespread use of BIM.

“Style is the exclusive UK partner to DORMA, and their early adoption of BIM is a direct reflection of their continual drive to deliver innovative partitioning systems that out-perform the competition,” said Julian Sargent, group managing director for Style, the UK’s leading moveable partitioning wall specialist.

“In packaging the BIM objects applicable to DORMA Hüppe, particular value has been attached to ensuring simple, uncomplicated usage, allowing the objects remain lean and lightweight.

“Where possible, therefore, graphical extras have been avoided, with the priority being firmly fixed on the technical features and functions of the items concerned.”
