Style’s London showroom, located near the Barbican, is enjoying phenomenal feedback from the architects, specifiers, contractors and end-user clients who visit it.
According to Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director, the response since opening its doors last Autumn has been so good he would urge anyone based in London, or visiting the City, who is involved in building specification or design to come and see it for themselves.
“Our showroom in London is just round the corner from Barbican Tube Station, and has been set up as a showcase for the very best in interior fit outs.
“It offers architects, specifiers, contractors, interior designers and end user clients the perfect opportunity to see some of the most innovative solutions for room fit out – all under one roof.
“On show are the very latest in moveable partitioning wall solutions, including the revolutionary Skyfold which is a fully automatic, vertically rising, acoustic moveable wall. Visitors can also review the very latest in wall coverings, lighting design, acoustics and a whole host of other innovations too.”
The innovation centre is in the heart of London’s interior design district. For more information, please contact your nearest regional Style office who will be pleased to advise you about arranging a visit.
Combining different moveable wall systems to create flexible space results in highly stylish and practical solutions.
This is according to Julian Sargent, Style’s group managing director, who says that bringing together more than one product type can lead to outstanding room configurations as well as breathtaking interior design.
“We have a number of case studies of installations where products have been combined,” said Julian. “Circle Housing is the most recent, where DORMA Moveo Glass was used alongside Skyfold and the end result was phenomenal.
“In this scenario, the light and space of the Moveo Glass enabled the entire area to feel open, even when the wall systems were closed. Then at the push of a button, further room division is provided by the Skyfold which glides silently and effortlessly into place from the ceiling cavity. The entire arrangement is hugely versatile and extremely stylish.”
Style is the exclusive UK partner to DORMA, Skyfold and SWG giving the market leading moveable wall specialists an extensive portfolio of solutions. As a result, Style’s team works closely with architects, contractors and end-user clients to always find the best solution – and this can be a combination of systems.
The company’s web site offers architects and specifiers an NBS specification service, and Style provides CPD seminars throughout the UK which enjoy outstanding feedback.
“We have remained firmly focused on developing a market leading proposition of the best portfolio of products, delivered with efficient processes and high calibre people” said Julian. “And we would urge anyone looking for flexible room configurations to talk to us as early as possible in the process as we are often able to develop ideas using multiple systems.”

Style’s moveable wall after care service enjoyed dramatic growth in 2014, with more customers than ever protecting their investment by signing up to a routine servicing, inspection and repairs programme.
Style’s after care service includes scheduled servicing and preventative repair of moveable walls, as well as a call out service if problems arise. Across all market sectors including corporate, education, hospitality, religion, local authority and the health sector there has been a rising uptake as customers appreciate how it protects the longevity of their moveable wall system.
“A modest investment in an after care service is a small price to pay for the benefits of having a product that has the potential to last up to 25 years and beyond,” said Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands.
“Scheduled servicing means we can be pro-active in terms of replacing worn parts or spotting signs of wear and tear. It also keeps the wall’s acoustic integrity intact.
“Damaged walls should also be repaired swiftly by a professional engineer because continued use can cause permanent damage and unnecessary expense. At Style we have teams of engineers located at our five regional offices dedicated to the servicing and repair of manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic moveable walls.
“And it doesn’t matter who supplied the partitioning wall because we support you whether you operate a wall originally provided by Style or from any other supplier or manufacturer.”

Companies and individuals involved in the design, specification, build or refurbishment of school buildings are being advised to read the latest Department of Education publication entitled, ‘Acoustic design of schools: performance standards’, Building Bulletin 93 which was released in December 2014.
The document, which replaces the previous edition from 2003, sets out minimum performance standards for the acoustics of school buildings, and describes the normal means of demonstrating compliance with the Building Regulations. It also provides guidance in support of the School Premises Regulations (2012) and the Independent School Standards (2013).
Mike Fine, Style’s director for the Midlands, commented, “As the UK’s leading provider of moveable partitioning walls, we are very focused on the ever-growing demands for acoustic separation in schools.
“When a partitioning wall is in place, it is vital for different classes and activities to run concurrently, and undisturbed, on either side.
“Quite often this can mean that a music lesson is being conducted on one side when, for example, a much quieter English lesson is taking place the other side. In response to this, Style offers some of the best acoustic products available including the new Skyfold Rw59dB which lowers silently into place from a ceiling cavity and offers a virtually soundproofed solution when dividing a room into multiple teaching areas.
“Something we pride ourselves on at Style is offering certificated, tested and compliant products and we will be ensuring that we work to the standards set by the Department for Education, particularly with demand for flexible space growing in schools, colleges and universities at such a dramatic rate.”

Skyfold, the vertically rising, fully automatic, acoustic moveable partitioning wall has won the Product Innovation category in the 2015 World Architecture News (WAN) awards.
The award, presented at a gala event in Germany, was won after judges voted Skyfold’s new Rw59dB the most innovative operable wall; an accolade based on an installation by Style Partitions at Henderson Global in London.
The WAN AWARDS Product innovation category is a major international competition that celebrates and promotes the best in architectural products & materials, attracting entries from all over the world.
“We’re delighted that Skyfold has won this prestigious award,” said Julian Sargent, group managing director of Style, and exclusive partners to Skyfold in the UK. “Working with architects, Pringle Brandon Perkins & Will, and the contract managed in-house by Henderson TIAA’s own team, this was the first installation of the new Skyfold Rw59dB in the world.
“We are understandably elated that this incredible moveable wall, which is housed discreetly in the ceiling cavity and is bordering on a soundproofed solution, has achieved such a global accolade.”
Style has been working with Skyfold for over 10 years in the UK, and last year Style celebrated its 100th installation at Telefonica in London. With demand soaring, Style is close to achieving its 200th Skyfold installation just 12 months on – such is the rapid increase in specifications.
“As awareness of Skyfold grows, so does demand,” said Julian. “And if we continue to bring award winning innovative products, such as the Rw59dB model, into the UK market we’re anticipating the popularity of Skyfold to accelerate significantly in the coming years.”

It’s been another year of progress at Style with new products, a new London showroom and a new web site being just a few of the highlights.
The year began with the launch of one of the most revolutionary products to arrive in the UK operable walls sector for many years; the Skyfold 59dB Rw.
As a fully automatic, vertically rising, acoustic moveable wall that offers a soundproofed solution, Skyfold glides effortlessly into place, sub-dividing space and raising the bar in acoustic standards.
The year ended with the launch of Multiroll – a partitioning wall ideal for sport halls in schools and other leisure facilities with optional retractable side guides, which is activated by the simple push of a button.
Mounted either in a beam area of a roof or invisibly fitted between a suspended ceiling, it can be installed as a laterally guided partition, stepped partition or safety curtain.
Style also launched a new web site, providing architects, specifiers, designers and contractors with a superb range of new information and tools.
And located near the Barbican, the company opened its new London showroom in November. Perfectly placed within London’s interior furnishings sector, the new facility offers the ideal opportunity to see some of the most innovative solutions for room fit out – all under one roof.
“It’s been another exciting year of continuous inward investment to meet the needs of architects, specifiers, contractors and end user clients even better than before,” said group managing director, Julian Sargent.
“We will continue to focus on leading the market in 2015 by providing the very highest of quality and standards in our people, processes and products, and in the meantime I would personally like to wish everyone we work with a very happy Christmas and new year and thank you very much for your continued custom.”
