London/Mitre Passage

Offices in prestigious City Centre locations are specified and fitted to the very highest standards. When the location is to be used to host VIP meetings for the 2012 Olympics it has to be perfect.

The 11th floor of 6 Mitre Passage on the Greenwich Peninsular has one of the most spectacular 360 degree vistas in London; a panorama of the O2 Arena, City Airport, The National Maritime Museum, The Thames Barrier, Canada Tower and ExCel (where Style completed Europe’s largest ever moveable wall installation in 2010).

And with the very best meeting venues come the very highest expectations. For the movable wall Style worked with architects Sheppard Robson and award winning support services provider Lakehouse to specify DORMA Moveo in a pure white finish. Aesthetically pleasing, as well as being outstandingly smooth to manoeuvre and operate, Moveo has the ComforTronic automatic seals as standard making it a superb semi-automatic partitioning wall.

“We’d been advised that this was a prestigious installation due to the clientele that would be using the room, but nothing prepared us for the views,” said Keith Way, Style’s Director for the South East
“However, an 11th floor location that’s looking down onto the O2 arena also comes with accessibility challenges and a thorough risk assessment was needed, as well as consideration as to the best way of conducting the overall installation.”

Style decided that each element of the operable wall would have to be made so that they would fit into the service lift. Most important was that this did not affect the integrity of the final product once in situ. Acoustic integrity, finish and ease of operation were all vital factors and once in place these were all delivered to the client’s immense satisfaction.

“For any business looking for an excellent, value for money, moveable wall, the semi-automatic Moveo product is growing hugely in popularity and we are seeing a significant acceleration in it’s specification,” concluded Keith. “And on this occasion it was instrumental in creating a meeting room with flexible space and truly incredible views.”
Daniel Winder of Sheppard Robson added, “This is a really excellent product and everyone involved in the project was extremely pleased with the final outcome.”
