Modern Facilities and Flexible Meeting Space at Weymouth Church.
The St. Aldhelms Church Centre promotes itself as offering a large conference/function hall, a lounge area, catering & refreshment facilities and flexible, dividable meeting rooms.
As a modern facility, the church is embracing its role in the local community and using its space flexibly so that a multitude of activities can take place, also leading to the generation of important revenue.
Working with contractor, A. Hammond and Sons Ltd and John Stark & Crickmay Partnership Architects, Style was appointed to enable the multiple use of the function rooms and main hall.
Key to this was to offer a configuration that would provide various layouts to suit differing sizes of gatherings by using the moveable walls to their best advantage.
Four sets of DORMA Moveo semi-automatic operable walls, with a 55dB rating and melamine finish were selected. Two sets were installed on the ground floor and two on the first floor.
Three sets of fire rated, Stylefold endfold partitions were included in the main hall, also with a melamine finish. Julian Sargent, managing director of Style said, “We have worked with A. Hammond and Sons on various projects but prior to this we hadn’t worked with the architects.
“We therefore decided to go and visit them to demonstrate the advantages of the Moveo semi automatic system versus a hand crank operation, and they were so impressed they specified it immediately.
“Our experience and track record of working with churches, and our range of products, meant we could combine the semi-automatic Moveo with Stylefold offering the perfect solution, and it is due to the quality of our people, products and processes that specifications in the religious sector continue to soar.”
